An English actor with many credits in television dramas and sitcoms. He became famous as Tristan Farnon in the BBC’s television adaptation of James Herriot’s All Creatures Great and Small stories. He played the fifth incarnation of the Doctor in Doctor Who, Dr. Stephen Daker in A Very Peculiar Practice and Albert Campion in Campion. Davison played “Elmer” in an episode of this British children’s series for ITV. He met his first wife, Sandra Dickinson, while working on the episode.

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
(1981)
Davison played “Dish of the Day” in an episode of this BBC television adaptation of Douglas Adams’ book and radio series of the same name. Adams had been a script editor on Doctor Who during Tom Baker‘s era. Davison’s then wife, Sandra Dickinson, appeared as “Trillion” in the series.

Doctor Who
(1981-84, 1993)
Davison’s first adventure was “Castrovalva”, and battled the Master, the serpentine Mara, the Cybermen, the Black Guardian (who had previously sought the Key to Time), the Silurians and Sea Devils, the Daleks, and the founder of the Time Lords, Omega (who first appeared in “The Three Doctors”). During his tenure was the 20th anniversary special, “The Five Doctors”. Davison’s last story was the penultimate serial of season 21, when Colin Baker took over. He also appeared in the Children in Need/30th anniversary special, “Dimensions in Time”, and gone on to record Doctor Who audio dramas.
